Jeremy Harte is an independent folklore researcher and author. He’s written a number of books on the subject including Explore Fairy Traditions which won the 2005 Katharine Briggs Award and Cloven Country: The Devil and the English Landscape
His new book Fairy Encounters in Medieval England: Landscape, Folklore and the Supernatural is a really great read. It’s entertaining and wittily written. Supernatural encounters from primary source material are tied together through the chapters and also include stories related to documented miracles. The second half covers fairy-related place names in the English landscape.
