Ep 81: Experiencing the ‘Wee Folk’ in Ireland

chat with a woman from Ireland who had number of experiences as a child in Ireland and describes a later experience as an adult, being ‘pixie led’ in a forest in Edinburgh.

We also hear about her Grandmother’s experience as a child, churing butter on her father’s dairy farm in Cork and how a priest came to heal a hex that was put on the family’s dairy production pre-mechanisation.

  1. I just heard this one with my son Tristan. Was very impressed with the lady’s descriptions of Cork in Ireland and her deep love and respect for the fey and nature. I think she is right when she says that our world is ill and that through nature DISCONNECT we are creating so many problems for ourselves and that the only way to solve at least some of the problems in our world is to take time to go in the forest, or find a nice park or even a tree and connect with it. We are far too addicted to things like computers, smartphones, television reality shows and social media instead of getting back to what really matters our own human Nature connected or linked up with the soul of Nature herself, the trees, the birds, the animals, the grass, the sea or even a small running stream. I really enjoyed this episode and thanks again Jo for all your work in helping people share their direct encounters with the faeries and enabling others to hear about them.

    1. Thank you ☺️ this is so true. I feel moved to move back to Ireland at the moment! May be nostalgia but I feel like Ireland is a very special place that has managed to hang onto its traditions (and is one of the only countries in the world right now showing any kind of humanity to the world situation).

      1. Yes, although I am an expat Aussie living in Denmark, my mum’s and dad’s families came from IRELAND (my mum’s side) and Scotland (my dad’s side). Apparently, my mum’s ancestors came from county Cork, like the lady in your interview. And there was a bit of the Irish faery blood coming through from that side of the family. So it was very interesting for me to hear this lady’s stories about the her growing up with all these old beliefs about the faeries in Ireland. Another place which has hung onto its fairy traditions is Iceland. Most other places sadly have forgotten their links to the fey and consequently their connections to Mother Earth. It is of course quite frightful what’s going on in the world at the moment, but hopefully these are just signs of the last of the old age of power mongering and war mongering slowly disappearing. It’s also quite funny that you should mention Martin Brofman, because when I was first in Denmark, trying to promote my book about the Goddess, Marianna the Moonchild, I met him on a new age radio program, called Krystal Radio. That was way back in 1991 and we were both guest speakers, me talking about the advent of the Goddess in the coming new age of Sophia, and Martin talking about the raising of the earth’s consciousness from the solar plexus chakra, representing power struggles, politics etc., and entering the heart chakra, the consciousness of universal love, harmony and understanding. The interview was taped and I still have the cassette somewhere. It is sad to think about how these impulses have been so badly repressed by the people in power, who are so locked in to the negative aspect of the solar plexus chakra that they can’t let go and allow the group soul of humanity to evolve naturally into the heart centre. In sanskrit the solar plexus centre is called the Manipura chakra, Manipura means the city of jewels, so it is a beautiful chakra when it works in harmony with the anahata or heart chakra. Anyway, bye for now and keep up all your good work.
